Microsoft Surface Lumia Concept Combines A Phone With A PC

Surface Lumia Concept Combines A Phone With A PC

 Concept Surface Lumia

Back in the early days, say late 2012, the Windows community was abuzz with rumors of a Surface phone. This Surface Lumia concept may be a couple of years late, but it is still compelling.
Microsoft never went in with this notion, and instead purchased Nokia’s hardware division — and with it, the Lumia lineup of smartphones. Now the company is trying to bring two of its platforms together by merging the Windows Phone operating system with Windows RT.
Windows 10 could indeed make things attractively effective.
And it undoubtedly powers this new device, imagined as a Surface Lumia, which offers the functionality a phone with the capabilities of a PC. In fact, it actually becomes a computer when connected to an external monitor using the video out port at the bottom.
Something like this would be perfect for use in the business world, that’s for sure.

The overall design of this concept is very minimalistic — and should appeal to those that like productivity on the go in a slim and clean package.
Obviously, it would all come down to the internal circuitry, if such a device ever sees daylight. Phones may have come a long way, but they still don’t offer performance levels one gets from a modern PC. And since this is something that doubles up as a computer, it needs to pack in some powerful chips.
Interestingly, a recent rumor hinted that Microsoft was cooking something like this up, and might unveil this new form factor hardware at the January 21 event.
The report claimed that such a device might only debut later this year, so who knows, maybe a phone tablet hybrid is the next logical evolution in the Windows ecosystem.
